Carrion Crown by Kelly
Duncan Voralius (DECEASED)
A Chelaxian demon-hunter and expert archer
lawful neutral male human (Cheliax) fighter 6
Duncan is a strong man, especially in his arms and back. He stands an even 6 ft and has dark eyes nearly as black as his hair, which he keeps pulled back in a half-ponytail. His skin is light, as is common in Cheliax, but is mostly hidden by a full, bushy beard which would be far out of style in his homeland.
He wears chainmail over black leather and a matched pair of longswords extends over his left shoulder; one has a pommel of silver, shaped as a cross, while the other is an dark iron ring. He has a wide quiver at his left hip with two distinct compartments, as well as a standard quiver at his left shoulder. He carries a fire-blackened bow that looks far too thick to draw.
Duncan Voralius left the city of Egorian when he was 15 years old. In the twenty years since, he has never spoken of his childhood or his reasons for leaving the capital of Cheliax, but those that have known him the longest claim that he left with nothing but the scholar’s robes he wore, a sack of books, and a well-used short-sword.
His travels took him north, a hard road through elven-controlled forests and the wild frontier of the River Kingdoms. There, among the constant battles for control and wealth, he learned to fight… first for survival, then for profit; when Duncan was not bartering for old books or scrolls about diabolism or necromancy, he hired himself out as a mercenary for whatever would-be lord that was willing to pay. For years, he continued this cycle of study and butchery until news spread that a new Crusade was being launched in Mendev. Without a word to any who would have called themselves his friends, Duncan packed his things and headed farther north.
Duncan spent the next six years battling the demons of the World Wound alongside both noble knights and low Templars, all the while constantly hoarding information on the supernatural. When not actively crusading, he applied research and experience to building an arsenal, including the twin blades Hatred and Malice; with these tools, he could combat whatever monstrous threats he might encounter and earn a small fortune in the process. He eventually began selling his ability to kill lesser demons, devils, and undead to whomever was willing to pay.
Nearly a year ago, he received an offer of steady work if he was to relocate to Ustalav for the time being. Again, with little warning, Duncan left everyone he knew behind and rode to Lepidstadt to meet his new employer, Embreth Darmid.
